The fast food chain restaurant Taco John’s, located beside Meijer Champaign, is now closed after more than six years of serving tacos.

A note posted on the door reads:

After careful consideration, we have decided to close this location. With our lease expiring, we have been actively searching for a new location in Champaign market to better server our customers, but unfortunately have not identified one at the moment. We appreciate all our customers and staff that have visited us and worked for us.

It’s sad to see another Champaign-Urbana restaurant close. If you’re hungry in that area of town, eat at Golden Crab seafood restaurant in the same plaza, or try tacos at some nearby places: new brick-and-mortar restaurant of Fernando’s taco truck, Las Palmas: home of the margarita towers, down Prospect Avenue for Mo’s Burritos yellow truck, and at Hacienda Agave, opening soon.
