Gallery Art Bar is where art, music, and bespoke beverages all happen in the same cool Downtown Urbana space. This Thirsty Thursday, I’m highlighting the artsy Urbana bar’s newest espresso mocktail. Made with Champaign’s own Columbia St. Roastery espresso, the Love, Satellite drink ($14) was a royal sip of rich chocolate and sweet caffiene. Roasted notes of coffee tasted lovely alongside the concentrated caramel flavor of the housemade chocolate-molasses syrup. Balanced and not too sweet — which was shockingly impressive for having literal chocolate syrup in it, the Love, Satellite was a glass goblet of cocoa-coffee elegance. This drink can come with rum and a chocolate liqueur in lieu of chocolate-molasses syrup if desired.
Gallery offers 11 drinks including classic cocktails like the old-fashioned and bee’s knees in addition to a signature shot, wine, beer, and Cloud Mountain Kombucha. Some of the bar’s cocktails feature syrups that the bar makes in-house in flavors like lavender-honey and brown sugar.
I, for one, think it’s pretty cool that every cocktail on the menu has an equally tasty, non-alcoholic counterpart.
